HAZLEWOOD GIVES “BLUE BUNNY” PROGRAM TO FINE ARTS LEAGUE
1/19/2009
Coleman News
Sherrell Hazlewood, 2009 President of the Fine Arts League of Coleman County, and creator of the legendary “Texas Big Blue Bunny Series and other Tall Tales”, presented a delightful power point program to the Fine Arts League members and guests, Thursday, January 15, 2009, in the First Coleman National Bank Club Room.
The program theme was to demonstrate how artists can create new interpretations of what everyone else may see. This program goal is to encourage FALCC artists to question their accepted paradigms about what is reality and beauty in painting.
The presentation included the artist’s paintings from his personal collection featuring paintings from his imagination of animals and people in real life and the humorous stories that accompany each ‘painting’. After Sherrell’s artwork, he gave another presentation of paintings by Vincent Van Gogh with music – It was a breath-taker. Just couldn’t get more awe-inspiring than that. Everyone was ready to go open up the paints and start painting, which is the theme for Sherrell’ s presidency – to inspire all to create art and enjoy the process.
Member, Ginger Test, will be giving the program for February 19th meeting, March 19th program will be given by Theda Rhea, April 16th by Marian Johnson. Guests are always welcome to the programs and meetings at the First Coleman National Bank Club room 3rd floor, 6 pm. Danna Dawson was appointed Hospitality chair for the year. Lois McCarty will be in charge of refreshments for the February meeting. Karen Burnett and Tracy Allen, (new members), provided a beautiful array of goodies for the evening.
A short business meeting followed the program. A Discussion of the upcoming Kids’ Art Show at the Library included Danna Dawson, CISD art teacher reporting 40 entries to date. Rules and entry forms can be found in a separate article in the paper. Other discussion included the possibility of a Membership Show in the Summer. Major discussion included the Juried Shows for the past 2 years and the Fiesta de la Paloma Fine Art Show 2009.
